The Onion AV Club Movie Night presents OC & Stiggs
Today sucks. Our house is quickly being annexed by Waller Creek, all of the tickets are sold out to the last night at the Alamo and our ‘Stros can’t buy a win. We could use a stiff drink* and a good laugh. Lucky for us, and you, the Onion AV Club and Rio Rita have prescribed a sweet salve to cure our burning wounds as they present Robert Altman’s satirical snarkfest OC & Stiggs.

Downtown Condos From Down Under
No sooner than we revealed the plans for a secret tunnel downtown, an Australian developer, Constellation Property Group, has announced their own plans to build a 30-story, twin tower, hotel/condo project right above the planned tunnel. Constellation is also building the Star Riverside condos at the northeast corner of Riverside Dr. and I-35. The architect is marchese + partners, which appears to be the design arm of the developer (Eugene Marchese runs both).
Plans for Secret Tunnel Under Downtown Revealed!
Ok, not so much "secret" as "we hadn't heard about it yet." Also, "revealed" isn't really accurate.
Austinist Theatre Review: Pale Idiot
We just got home from taking in the third to last performance of Rude Mechanical's Pale Idiot at the Off Center. Since there are only two performances remaining, both of which are not sold out (much to our amazement), we're going to try jotting off an uncharacteristically short review. We confess that we're not as familiar with the Rudes as we should be. Tonight's performance really made us feel rotten about missing so much...
What is in Waller Creek?
Students from the Sri Atmananda Memorial School are spending a year trying to determine what is in the water in Waller Creek, which runs through their private campus in Hyde Park. This endeavor is a funded by a $10,000 grant from Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. Not only does this project provide the students a practical lesson about science in general, it also provides a valuable data set for water quality in the creek.
Keeping Austin Weird
We’ve all seen William Shakespeare’s Macbeth…on television, in the movies, performed by the kids we picked on in high school. It’s so played. However, one group of Austin actors is adding a new twist to an old classic. The Weird Sisters Women’s Theater Collective presents The Weird Sisters, Hand in Hand which is “a female-centric adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.”
