While lounging amongst hundreds of lesbians at HRC’s Dinah Lakeshore event two weekends ago, we noticed a few people emerge from the mass of tank tops in full-on Western-wear: they were there to spread the word about the Texas Gay Rodeo Association’s Capitol City Rodeo. Hopelessly hypnotized by the man’s Southern drawl and his ability to delve into the most fascinating details concerning the art of calf roping, we were already sold on the event......

Maker Faire, the annual Bay Area festival that revels in Do-It-Yourself (DIY) ingenuity, is expanding to Austin this year. Austin Cub Scout Pack 990 and Boy Scout Troop 990 obliterated the Guinness Book World Record for most simultaneous model rocket launches this past weekend. An astounding 965 rockets were fired via "electric matches" at The Travis County Expo Center—short of their initial 1000 target, but very impressive nonetheless. According to Engadget, the previous record stood at just under 400. Thanks to del.icio.us user subindie......

If you’ve never been to a car show, this is your chance. But this is no ordinary car show –- it’s a hot rod show. We’re talking giant engines, men with tattoos, flame-accented clothing, beer, and, of course, country rock music. Dismayed by the daunting clouds, the show has moved from its original location at Festival Beach to the Travis County Expo Center. Hosted by South Austin's own hot rub club, The Kontinentals, this show......

KEYE is saying that people who live in the area near IH35 (we think they mean 290E) from Springdale Rd. to Ferguson Lane need to evacuate their homes. If they can't evacuate, they need to seal themselves in their homes with the A/C off. Hwy 290E is closed in both directions and the Travis County Expo Center is being used as an evacuation center. Apparently the trucker noticed the leak while he was driving on......

The move will mark a major turning point in Austin hockey, as the Icebats have called the Expo Center home for their entire 10 year history. Hopefully the team will go out with a bang, or at least a win. The team will definitely be going......
