Toyota just issued a massive recall of 3.8 million vehicles, including its luxury Lexus line, after the government issued a warning about the cars' removable floor mats. According to the Transportation Department, the driver's side mats have the potential to force the accelerator to get stuck in a full open position, which could result in, among other negative scenarios, death. For now, says U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, “We strongly urge owners of these vehicles to remove mats or other obstacles that could lead to unintended acceleration.”
