You may not know this, but here at the Austinist theatre desk, we work our little fingers to the bone every weekend looking up all the fabulous theatre our fair city has to offer, compiling it into a list, and forwarding it to Austinist's esteemed editor for compilation into the Ist Lists. Sometimes our work is kinda cinchy...say, 15 lines or so. But other times it's a beast. Take this week, for example. This week......

The fun and lively improv show Plays Well With Others is being held over at the Zach Scott Theater and if you need to have your funny bone tickled, you should go. The show is directed by Owen Egerton and written by Les McGehee. Owen and Les also star, along with a cast of some of Austin's best improv actors like Megan Flynn, Jodi Egerton, Scott Chester, and Shannon McCormick. Also involved are videographer Ben......

This week’s theatre offerings have nothing to do with John Aielli or KUT, and we won't be playing a variety of songs referencing how exceptionally cold it’s been these past few days. Really, we just liked the title. (Sorry to all you non-KUT listeners who we’ve just completely excluded.) Plus, it actually is a very eclectic week on the boards (or, er, the concrete floors...in our local warehouse theatres). There’s an exciting collaboration afoot......

As your eyes try to focus through the after-party-induced, post-intoxication (or still intoxicated) haze that's been your modus operandi this week, don't feel bad that you're a little...less productive than normal. The theatre community isn't getting much done either. But, while this may be a slow week on the boards, coming next weekend only, ProArts Collective is bringing you Kissing the Goodbye, written and directed by the fabulous Zell Miller (who we love). Also,......

Quick, citizens of Austin, to the theatre! This weekend is your last chance to down to the jiggy beat of your favorite theatre company before all those self-important dicks with well-coppered tans come to town. Speaking of San Francisco, (and SXSW, and theatre), that brings us to our Austinist performance pick of the week. Heather Gold is coming all the way from Golden-Gate-Ville to perform at the Vortex on Monday and Tuesday night. Here’s......

A new exhibit at the Texas State History Museum provides a glimpse, through its relics, into a shameful and imporant part of US history. The exhibit, "A Slave Ship Speaks: Wreck of the Henrietta Marie," opened earlier this week and runs through April 15. The Henrietta Marie exhibit chronicles the lives of 250 slaves and the 18 seamen who manned the ship and managed its human cargo. The exhibit features interactive displays and hundreds......
