Everybody knows how hard goodbyes are, but this Sunday’s Opera House Store Closing Party promises a celebration of everything we love about the arts in Austin. The Opera House Collective enjoyed a vibrant three years of providing local artists with gallery and performance space, as well as an inspiring outlet for handmade retail. Their longtime support of the local noise and experimental music scene renders a fitting live soundtrack from Night Viking, Nano Bang Bang, Teddy and Marge, and Ich Ni San Chi. The Opera House, on South 1st, is a venue, retail store, and has hopes of soon becoming a non-profit organization. On Sunday the 22nd they’re proving their mettle with a 3D movie release party by Jeanne Stern and Erich Ragsdale, followed by a performance by the San Marcos group Teddy and Marge. The word "twitter", mostly employed by delicate English septuagenarians, has been reclaimed by local artist and cinematographer Jeanne Stern. She presents her work at The Opera House this Friday with the show Twitter Box: Spatial Illusions Of All Kinds. "A 'twitter box' is a moving microcosm," Stern explained to us. "It could be a film, performance, or diorama, or a drawing that is suggestive of motion." The boxes will accompany mechanical ballets and hanging gardens.......
