Hey, Austin Bands! Play Our CMJ Party in New York City


WIN AN OPENING SPOT AT CMJ! Awesome Inc. -- made up of folks from Austinist, Super!Alright!, Car Stereo (Wars), Learning Secrets, Finger on the Pulse (NYC) and more -- have teamed up with imeem to throw a massive Dia De Los Muertos party during CMJ in New York City. We've already booked a handful of great acts; now, we're looking for an excellent up-and-coming act to open. Submit audio or video tracks that best represent your group's musical skills – the band that gets rated the highest by the imeem community will play the show, opening for:
	Thunderbirds are Now! Make History, Detroit band Thunderbirds are Now!'s 3rd full-length and second on Frenchkiss Records, does away with a band in full tail-chase and depicts one at it's peak: no longer stressing about what people might expect, but rather wearing their influences better than one of Interpol's tailored suits.
	Lo Fi Fnk (first US appearance!) Lo-Fi-Fnk's music is an unlikely mix of innocence and maturity - 'Boylife' is fundamentally about growing up and moving on, tearing things down, new experiences, confusion gaining knowledge, realisations, breaking free, and of course…partying. To music that makes you wanna…damn….DANCE.
	The Harlem Shakes Bouncy Broolynites Harlem Shakes' long-waited ep, Burning Birthdays, mashes new-school sunshine pop against damaged indie doo-wop, pounding the result into anthemic, Yeah Yeah Yeah-style rock. Singer Lexy Benaim lisps with dark, boyish glee as alternately cutting and rolling guitar lines cascade over long ooohs and ahhhs, bright synth patterns, and the occasional sax (there's even a flute in there somewhere).
	James Friedman …when we heard about a DJ who goes around calling himself James F!@$%^ Friedman, he got extra points in our little black cred book. And when we discovered that he spins bands that we love, he got his own f!@$%^ page….Go Commando! features floor-friendly mixes from Annie, Bloc Party, the Rapture and a bunch of obscure people with ridiculous names. — Pitchfork
	CSS São Paulo, Brazil's provocative, freewheeling dance-rock sextet CSS takes its name from an abbreviation of "cansei de ser sexy," which is Portuguese for "tired of being sexy" (though, considering that the lead singer goes by the name Lovefoxxx, it's arguable how much that phrase actually applies to the band).
