Cine Las Americas Presents El Metodo

Donald Trump and The Apprentice have nothing on screenwriter Mateo Gil (Vanilla Sky, The Sea Inside). Gil zeroes in on the paranoia of office politics and brutal selection processes that force contestants to adhere to strict, snazzy dress codes in El Metodo, a critically acclaimed film that was released in Spain two years ago. The New York Times apparently labeled the movie as a comedy-laced suspense drama. For those of us that were not in Spain in 2005 and didn’t see this genre-bending movie appear anywhere else, Cine Las Americas will be hosting a screening tomorrow night at Regal Metropolitan 14. more ›

Lock Up the Children and Hide the Silverware: Martha's Coming to Town!

Martha Stewart's been a busy (and fabulous) bee in the year and a half since being released from Alderson Federal Prison. In these past few months she's: announced a lucrative partnership with Kodak, opened the first in a series of Martha Stewart-designed model townhomes, was crowned "Godmother of Princess Cruises," launched a new line of merch at Macy's ("i LOVE THE NEW CLOTHES LINE" says Maryland fan Dayneisha), published a book, and agreed to take... more ›

News Bits!

-Lewis "Scooter" Libby evidently dabbled in a bit of fiction writing, his 1996 novel The Apprentice dubbed by The New Yorker as his "entry in the long and distinguished annals of the right-wing dirty novel." Consider the following tasty excerpt: "He could feel her heart beneath his hands. He moved his hands slowly lower still and she arched her back to help him and her lower leg came against his. He held her breasts... more ›

Martha! Martha! Martha!

Martha! Martha! Martha!

We are most definitely fans of the regular ole Apprentice featuring Donald "combover, what combover?" Trump, but this new one has us even more excited to tune into the cutthroat world of business. Perhaps it is all the pastels (from Martha's offices to the lady's suitwear) and the soothing grays of the "conference" room. Perhaps it is because the tasks are more about creativity and presentation rather than selling burgers or cars. It must be a woman thing. And the fact that we love all things Martha Stewart even if we can't imagine doing 1/16th of what she appears to do everyday. We don't really cook, we can't sew, we can't keep a cactus alive, but the woman has taste and style and we love to appreciate that. more ›
