Senator Gonzalo Barrientos, an Austin Democrat, is killing a bill he drafted to have a 49-mile stretch of Texas Highway 130 named after legendary country crooner, Willie Nelson. Republican senators Steve Odgen of Bryan and Jeff Wentworth of San Antonio disapprove of the name (which would cross their districts) because of Nelson’s notorious rock ‘n roll lifestyle and his outspoken support of the Democratic party.
