On Tuesday, The Austin Bat Cave is hosting a screening of the film Ice Storm with Rick Moody, upon whose novel the Ang Lee film is based, all of which follows a discussion of the book with Moody and Evan Smith. During college, San Marcos-based singer-songwriter Terri Hendrix walked away from an opera scholarship and started picking up guitar skills from Marion Williamson, who taught Hendrix in exchange for help around the farm. Now, some years and nine self-released albums later, Hendrix has a grassroots following that stretches not only across Texas's Hill Country, but across the country in general and out into Europe and the rest of the world. more ›

The Old Settler’s Music Festival sure has a line up. Why, they have more roots music than you could shake a roots-music-shaking stick at. This weekend marks the 19th year for the event, held at the Salt Lick BBQ Pavillion right out in Driftwood.
