EAST Interview: Zoe Comings Needs 48 Hour Days
Most ceramic materials are brittle, hard and full of tiny little holes, not unlike our cold, cold hearts (just kidding). The challenge of working in ceramics is to overcome these faults and make something that can stand the test of time. Zoe Comings aims for that goal and exceeds it by not only creating lasting structures, but also lasting beauty. Experience some of her work this weekend during the East Austin Studio Tour. Zoe's studio is part of the Pump Project, which is located at 702 Shady Lane.
New Movie Releases: Teeth, How She Move and Rambo
When you are rolling into sexy time with your lady/man friend, there should be an unspoken pact, a treaty, if you will, that both parties will emerge from the lusty lope with their person completely intact. No one wants the menacing mist of mutilation hanging in the air while they've got their pants around their ankles, that is of course as long as both bodies are willing participants in said libidinal ritual. Ah, a catch! In that asterisk lies the core of what the clumsy, campy, cringe-filled Teeth is all about.
Exercise Your Choppers On Some Good, Hard, um, Food!
As we reported last week, the Austin-birthed Teeth will be hitting our silver screens on Friday, January 25th. But of course, it would be a grievous crime against the good people of Austin to not give them the chance to see this genre-bending flick before the rest of the unwashed masses, so the tireless miracle-workers over at Ain't It Cool News and the Alamo Drafthouse have cooked up a little sneak preview for our collective cringing pleasure, with Director Mitchell Lichtenstein live in person to field all of your probing questions.
