Anybody familiar with Alejandro Escovedo's music knows it's very hard to describe Al's style. Once called the Mexican Bruce Springsteen, Escovedo's music is full of life -- and all the trials and tribulations that come along with it. Alejandro's compositions range from the quiet yet lush to the overly aggressive punk stomp. But for these special performances, Alejandro goes acoustic and surrounds himself with a string quartet whose musical abilities and nuances brings tears to your eyes. Old songs breathe new life as they are reinterpreted and re-examined. Al's string quartet performances are a bit of a rarity around town, so don't make the mistake of thinking you'll just catch the show next time. And if that's not enough to get you to come out, Alejandro will also be selling copies of his new CD "Room of Songs" which will not hit stores until the first week of December. "Room of Songs" is Al's first release with his string quartet and was recorded live at various stops around the U.S. earlier this year. Alejandro Escovedo's String Quartet performs tonight and Wednesday night at the Cactus Cafe at 8 p.m. Advance tickets are priced at $20, and the price at the door will be $22.
