Our Indieroke night returns this Tuesday to The Mohawk. What started out as a one-off fling with rock stardom has turned into a monthly gathering of like-minded folks craving that fleeting moment of exhilaration. If you haven’t made it to one yet, we strongly recommend getting there in a timely fashion to get your name and song on the list early…and often. (You know who you are!) We will have multiple song list books going forward to ease that pain....

Brooklyn singer-songwriter Mike Doughty's name may not instantly register with you, but you have undoubtedly heard him before. In the early 90's, he founded the alt.radio staple Soul Coughing, who had hits with "Super Bon Bon" and "Circles" before disbanding in 2000. Far from the throwaway status of the Marcy Playgrounds and Harvey Dangers of the day, Soul Coughing used samples, drum loops, jazz references, and experimental producers like Mitchell Froom on their recordings. The Ponys – Celebration Castle Second release from this Chicago band that has more of their garage rock sound with some post-punk guitar thrown into the mix. (The Ponys play Emo’s this Friday along with Faceless Werewolves and Camp X-Ray) Ryan Adams & the Cardinals – Cold Roses Double disc that should have probably been edited down to one, it shows Adams moving back to his country-rock roots.
