Each year SXSW brings a tidal wave of uber-creative people to Austin with talents in technology and digital media, film, and obviously, music. This year, the visual arts are no exception and make a strong appearance with an art + film combo titled New Brow: The Rise of Underground Art, featuring some of the country’s white hot contemporary underground artists. Though not officially part of the SXSW line-up, New Brow is a joint effort courtesy of California-based Humble Pictures, the Shooting Gallery, and the Alternative Café and should not be missed. It is completely apropos that the film and exhibition will make their debuts in Austin this week during the music portion of SXSW as New Brow celebrates and give a voice to the DIY culture in the art world. more ›
