Even though most of America has turned down the volume on their radios long ago and pressed play on their iPods, community radio is still chugging along in an age where digital music was supposed to have killed the radio star. Luckily, for us in Austin, we still have the brave and adventurous programming of KOOP radio. If you've never tuned in KOOP, you've been missing out on a tremendous amount of noise, avant-jazz, neo-classical, reggae, and progressive talk radio.

The Authors Bring the Scares [Album Review and Show Preview]
Even with only an earlier EP under their belt, The Authors' first full length release Get Haunted is a formidable thirty-eight minute force. The album was tracked at Elmwood Recording Studio in Dallas with Grammy winning producer/engineer Stuart Sikes at the helm, and, out just in time for Halloween, Get Haunted scares up some quality tunes.
Preview: From The Mind Of Adi Series #2 @ Mohawk Wednesday
What has made Adi’s visage so recognizable in the Austin underground music landscape? Is it his unpretentious smile and jersey-clad frame? Perhaps it’s because he’s involved in one capacity or another in nearly every major music event this town has to offer? Either way, he’s not in it for the inevitable fame or name recognition. He’s just bringing important, fun local music to your eyes and ears because he genuinely cares, and he wants you to participate.
Preview: From The Mind Of Adi Series Kickoff @ Mohawk Wednesday
Austin’s adventurer, bringer of mirth and lover of all things football (the non-American kind), Adi, brings you something straight from his mind and totally cool. It’s the kickoff of his new From The Mind Of Adi residency series Wednesday at the Mohawk.
Le Diamant Brut: Magic Magic & She, Sir
What’s the Deal: There have been many comparisons of this Boston area fivesome to Arcade Fire and The Shins and other bands of that ilk, running in similar circles and whatnot, but we’re not going to do any of that (kinda did right there). They’re far too strange, quirky and a little experimental to be lined up among those usual suspects. And really, it’s a hell of a lot easier to just describe what they sound like than try to siphon out their influences. At times a little techy, at others really creative, they use a wide range of noises, two drum kits, guitar and melodic choruses to get their lush, evolving sound.
