As we drove home last night from our rockin' Happy Hour at the Longbranch Inn, we noticed that a new store has (or will shortly) open in the new 2nd Street shopping area -- and it's a cool one: Design Within Reach. DWR is a store that sells designy stuff - modern chairs, plug-and-playable carpet tiles, fancy kitchen bits - for a slightly more reasonable price than you'd be able to find this stuff elsewhere. (Though, slightly more reasonable still frequently tops a grand or two...) The idea is to bring good, modern design people, so that even those who don't subscribe to Wallpaper* can have a living room that looks like it came from the 1950's version of 2160. We like to pop in just to see what's available and what's cool, and sometimes to pick up a really nice spoon or lightbulb.
