While SXSW is still weeks away, SCION A/V is testing your RSVP trigger-finger with their free Garage Show at Mohawk tonight. King Tuff headlines the event featuring “The King” (Kyle Thomas’) catchy, glam-rock project. (Thomas also plays in Witch, Feathers, and most recently, Happy Birthday). For touring purposes, King Tuff has enlisted Gunz on drums, Fletcher J on guitar, and Joseph Plunket on bass, while The King will surely lead by example on vocals and guitar. more ›

Scion’s free-with-RSVP events have fast become a mainstay of Austin’s nightlife. A DJ set by The Juan MacLean (a.k.a. John MacLean) is the feature attraction at this Thursday’s shindig at Beauty Bar. MacLean was a founding member of Six Finger Satellite -- (future DFA Records co-founder) James Murphy joined the team in the late 90’s to produce the band’s Law of Ruins album. After the initial demise of Six Finger Satellite, MacLean took some time off for personal development. He was eventually coaxed back into music by Murphy; MacLean’s debut solo album Less Than Human arrived in 2005. (Last year, Six Finger Satellite announced plans to reunite, sans MacLean.) more ›

The tour, which launched in 2003, is a roving exhibit featuring work from a variety of contemporary artists from around the world. For four years the tour has evolved, and each year the mediums showcased in the exhibit have changed. For Installation 4, the theme, It's a Beautiful World, was interpreted by each artist and includes paintings, photography, sculpture and collage. more ›
