This year's Old Settler's Music Festival featured Fred Eaglesmith, the Lovell Sisters, Cindy Cashdollar, Dave Alvin, Ray Wylie Hubbard, the Lee Brothers and the Travelin McCoury's, Marc Broussard, Robert Earl Keen and many more. Austinist contributing photographer Steve Hopson was there to catch it all.

If our friends at KGSR were to curate a stage for ACL, we suspect it would look like this one. Though we have no knowledge that Austin radio mainstay Jody Denberg is the man behind the curtains for Saturday's AMD stage, the bands here certainly look a lot like his playlists! What strikes us as great about this stage is that the music all fits together nicely even though it crosses many age groups, demographics, and genres. It would be hard not to enjoy what's on offer here, so consider staking out a spot and using AMD as your Saturday home base.

“There’s a sign on the east Texas border that says Beaumont 23, El Paso 857. To me it was a braggadocio, quintessential Texas symbol," says Coyote Funeral co-director Jason May about the original inspiration for the film about two estranged brothers who rekindle their boyhood friendship on a walk across Texas. (The kind of thing we wish we'd done while we still had the opportunity. The walking part, not the boyhood friendship rekindling part.)

The 2007 ACL Fest lineup came into focus a bit earlier than expected this afternoon. Much like last year's online scavenger hunt, the folks at Charles Attal have decided to whet appetites with an ACL Crossword puzzle in this Thursday's Chronicle. The two big names revealed today: The White Stripes and Björk. Well played, ACL. The crossword reveal: The White Stripes, Björk, The Decemberists, Peter, Bjorn, and John, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Robert Earl Keen,...
