The versatile and prolific Rob Crow has been a part of quite a few acclaimed projects (Pinback, Heavy Vegetable, etc.) over the course of his esteemed career. He goes by Lord Phallus when delivering thunderous sludge-metal via the hilariously named San Diego five-piece Goblin Cock. Scorching riffs, humorous lyrics, and Crow’s distinct vocals constitute the heart of band’s tongue-in-cheek (?) product but one best incorporate the imagery in tow, such as the thematically appropriate fantasy art by Mike Sutfin that adorns Goblin Cock CD sleeves as well as the mysterious allure generated by the five cloaked members, to fully grasp the band’s vision. Check out the album cover for Come With Me If You Want To Live on Sutfin’s blog and the video for “We’ve Got A Bleeder” on Vimeo.

Glös - Harmonium Modern technology is moving at a rate faster than some can handle, while others utilize new possibilities to its potential as best they can. Glös started when Keeley Davis and Cornbread Compton of Engine Down traded music files via laptops with each other, experimenting with a new style of independent songwriting leading to eventual co-ordination through the file transfers. Davis’ sister, Maura (formerly of Denali), was also included in the process,...

Rob Crow: frontman for indie tech-pop darlings Pinback, member of innumerable side projects (Heavy Vegetable, Goblin Cock, Team Sleep, Optiganally Yours...), perennial solo artist, vegan...the guy must have a secret portal to the 32-hour day. How else he does as much as he does, and as well, is anyone's guess. Due at SXSW to promote his latest solo record, Living Well (a contender for best album cover of 2007), Rob graciously answered questions about the biz, tacos, and hating rock and roll.

After counting your blessings for not being pierced through the heart by a stingray over the weekend, you might want to stop by your local record store and check out what's new. Grizzly Bear Yellow House (Warp) Ed Droste's Grizzly Bear are back with a full band and a shimmering landscape of an album reminiscent of Brian Wilson's hey-day, old fashioned American harmony and lush layers of sound that combine folk, post-rock and psychedelia...
