Mudhoney at Emo's East [Show Preview]

Mudhoney at Emo's East [Show Preview]

While not necessarily viewed in the same light as some indie-rock warhorses, Seattle's Mudhoney has been going strong with a mostly-original lineup for almost a quarter century. In an era of neatly-packaged shambolic nostalgia for the 1990s and pre-internet underground rock, one could align Mudhoney with that impulse fairly easily. Want to win a pair of tickets? Show Preview: Roky Erickson's Birthday With Riverboat Gamblers & More at Antone's

Some back story, if you really need it. Roky Erickson was what Syd Barrett could have been if he moved out of his Mum's basement and onto a faithful regiment of anti-psychotics. He's a monument to the redemptive qualities of music, having built this fair city on psychedelic rock and roll, wandered off the reservation with bombastic panache, and returned decades later to conquer the world: a man shattered and reassembled to his own soundtrack. more ›

Vice Kills Texas Wimpy Scooters, Hosts Free Party Tonight

When the people behind Vice Magazine throw a party, it's safe to assume that much booze will be enjoyed, and, on more special occasions, that buildings may partially collapse. All in the name of good fun. Meanwhile, Harley Davidson recently spawned the latest hellion in its family of meaty motorcycles: the "Nightster" is an ultra-low sportster designed, as its 27-year-old creator put it so succinctly, "to look illegal." We know precious little about fancy... more ›
