Perhaps there is finally some good news for Jason Ulmas. Ulmas, the owner of two Lucky J's Chicken and Waffle trailers, posted an impassioned and tragic blog entry Monday announcing the theft of the Lucky J's trailer from East 6th and Waller Street on Christmas Eve night. He went on to describe the theft as the final blow in a year filled with health problems and family tragedy - for the full entry, click here.
One for the Random File: Dan Aykroyd and Skulls Full of Vodka
Hundreds of people lined up at the Hancock Center Twin Liquors today for the chance to meet actor Dan Aykroyd, who is the spokesperson for the award winning Crystal Head Vodka. When we arrived at 5:00pm, the line waiting to shake the hand of the legendary funnyman snaked down the aisles of tequila and rum, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and out the door into the parking lot. According to a friend of ours who is a wine expert at Twin Liquors, the crowd was even larger than when Danny DaVito visited with his beloved Limoncello back in March of 2009. Apparently this wild and crazy guy knows how to draw a crowd.
Why a UPS Truck?
Early yesterday evening a man driving a Ford Explorer near the intersection of 38th and Red River jumped out of his car and into a UPS truck (after tossing the driver out). The UPS truck hijacker then took the vehicle on a short joyride on the IH35 South access road until becoming involved in a collision by the old Concordia site. After the accident, he fled on foot, but didn't get far before being caught by police near E. 32nd St. and the east frontage road. So, was it worth it? [Statesman]
