Here's a match made in heaven: Pompeii and Lamberts. Not necessarily for the "fancy bar-be-que" part, but for the upstairs venue which seems specifically built to feature the adorable music of the group. They should easily fill out the small venue and have no problem impressing the audience with their bright, many-hued pop palette. There's all kinds of pleasing elements to be tittered about. Strings? Nothing Happens for a Reason brings the young band into a much bigger space. They're still confidently mixing elements of big-room emo with more subdued indie-pop (the comparisons to Jimmy Eat World and Death Cab for Cutie aren't without warrant), but they've also warmed up to some heavier territories, revealing influence by bands like Explosions in the Sky and Sigur Ros. more ›

Pompeii have a big fall planned. After laboring on a follow-up to their debut Assembly, the band now has a release date of October 7th for their sophomore release, Nothing Happens for a Reason. To support the release, the band are taking to the road for a solid month for shows in Arizona, California, and a few more states. Along for the ride will be E for Explosion and The Send, but first, Pompeii have a kick-off show planned for The Mohawk with fellow Austinistes Wine and Revolution, and Denton's fast-sounding Gazelles. more ›

The swooning and string-laden Pompeii will be performing this evening at the Emo's Lounge to the tune of their swooning, string-laden emo epics (how apropos). They're promising "a new record soon" to follow-up Assembly (Eyeball), and this is the only show they have planned as of right now. The buzz is building – Toyota used their song "Ten Hundred Lights" for a commercial recently, and they've been teasing fans with shots and updates from the studio. more ›
