The idea for a Gainsbourg/Brigitte Bardot-inspired duet album with Johansson actually came to Pete Yorn long before her collection of Tom Waits covers (Anywhere I Lay My Head, reviewed here) released last year. This album's single, "Relator" is a jaunty pop duet that sticks, with little depth. The album also has a cover of Big Star's "I Am the Cosmos", which sounds deeper than we're betting this duo can muster.

The Austin City Limits Festival lineup is official, making this year's three day event a legitimate item of lust. In addition to the names you see there, the fest will include performances by Peter, Bjorn & John, Midlake, The National, Yo La Tengo, Sound Team, Pete Yorn, Ghostland Observatory, Joseph Arthur and many more. Right now, tickets are $145, and VIP passes are $1,700. VIP access, in case you're wondering if its worth the...

Yes, the holidays are here. Not only does this mean Christmas-themed beers and colder weather, but it also heralds the ubiquitous radio station holiday concert. Tonight, it's 101X's turn, as they bring a triple bill of artists to the intimate room at Antone's. Headlining is New Jersey's Pete Yorn, a guy who obviously listens to lots of earnest stuff like Bruce Springsteen. Luckily for Pete, Bruce is this year's band to emulate, so songs...

Fans of the indie-rock will find much to like in the latest concert update. Flying V lovers My Morning Jacket, the willfully obtuse Fiery Furnaces, and alt.country godfather Jay Farrar have each been added to Austin's fall music schedule. As we've mentioned, the sheer volume of shows is unprecedented, so get out and enjoy the fact that every band you like is coming to town in the next two months. Thanks as always to...

We can't help you with today's Tapes 'N' Tapes show over at Waterloo Records (since they're probably playing right now), but Austin's big indie retailer is chock-a-block with three more great in-stores this week. Tomorrow at 5pm, folkie/KEXP mainstay Alexi Murdoch will play tunes from his rather Nick Drake-ish disc Time Without Consequence, and as usual, there will be some free beer to drown your sorrows. Thursday at 5pm, Sub Pop favorites and Toronto...
