For the past four years, Art Outside was a community based art show tucked away in the Enchanted Forest during the week of South By Southwest. Both an alternate venue and haven for those who were hipster-weary and overwhelmed with the scene downtown, Art Outside focused on bringing art and performance out of the galleries and theaters and into the great outdoors. Fast forward to 2009, and with the closure of the forest, the fate of the event was uncertain. With Maker Faire also not returning to Austin this year, the city faced a significant shortage of inspiring art festivals. Luckily, Art Seen Alliance and their fearless founder, Warren McKinney picked up the project and Art Outside will continue at a new venue with an expanded schedule. Taking place over the weekend of October 9th through 11th, the event will be held at Apache Pass, an outdoor events and camping venue North East of Austin. We sat down with Warren, who told us all about Art Outside's ambitious new incarnation.

Tomorrow night, Ballet Austin will kick off it's season with Tharp's ballet, an eclectic mix of traditional ballroom dancing and the soothing sounds of Sinatra's collection. The Austin Symphony Orchestra will provide accompanying instrumentation.

The smell of weed hung in the air like a promise on the sweltering Saturday night at the Backyard as fans prepared their minds for the Doggfather, Snoop Dee-oh-double-Gee. Fresh off a run in with Dallas area police that resulted in the arrest of two passengers on his tour bus, Snoop Dogg performed with 311 and Fiction Plane as part of the Unity Tour 2008 at the Backyard. Taking the stage to the melodramatic strains of Verdi's "Requiem" with a T.O. jersey (blue, of course) and gripping a jewel encrusted mic, Snoop proceeded to bang out a set of classics including such party fav's as "Gin and Juice", "Nuthin' but a G Thang", and "Murder was the Case". With the disclaimer that he wasn't an R&B singer he also performed tracks off his latest album "Ego Trippin'", including the YouTube favorite "Sensual Seduction".

Ladytron, touring behind their latest album Velocifero, brought a slightly new lineup to Stubb's on Friday night. The backing band may have changed a bit but they delivered the solid electronica-infused rock that has made them a critical darling. Datarock opened with a sweaty set of friendly Norwegian dance rock.

The living legend, whose story has been told in the wonderful The Devil & Daniel Johnston, will be doing an in-store performance at Waterloo Records today at 5pm.
