And folks, what a glorious thing it is. Fun Fun Fun Fest compliment their leaked artists with today's full line-up, and though Slayer, M83 and tUnE-yArDs were all exciting news, we've only just begun: Public Enemy, Major Lazer, Diplo and Neon Indian are some big names on the blue stage, Henry Rollins and the Upright Citizens Brigade play the yellow stage, Danzig Legacy and The Damned headline the white stage with Slayer, and Passion Pit, Lykke Li and Hum are the big names on the orange stage.

Passion Pit Have Everything Going To the Beat [Sold Out Ticket Giveaway]
Ahh, Passion Pit. A band named after a drive-in theater where prepubescents go to make out. The imagery pouring from their music indeed strikes feelings of school-kid age simplicity, fun and love of life. But there's something deeper. Beyond the synthesizers and electronic back beats, sincerity collides with a wistful narrative. They first hit the scene in early 2009 with their Chunk of Change LP, sufficiently snowballing into an "it band." By the time South by Southwest rolled around, the alliterated name was being muttered left and right and up and down.
Austinist's Dark Horses: The Best Overlooked Albums of 2008
While the steady hand of democracy steers most end-of-year best of lists towards not only the very good but also the very well known, we here at the Austinist feels it's important to give a little face time to the lesser knowns, especially now that 2009 has closed the door on that last year that happened, whatever it was called. So while we were plenty pleased with our own official list, we thought it important to take note of those albums that shook us this year, even if they didn't make it through the primaries--let's consider them the Dennis Kuciniches and Mike Gravels of the race, if only those guys were any good. As a result, this list is unnumbered, obscure, sometimes strange, and features those underexposed greats that shouldn't be forgotten even though the calendar's turned.
