Tonight at 6:30 pm at the Statesman building, Hacks/Hackers will host a panel and open discussion on integrating tech skills and shortcuts into the communications sector. Four recent grads will form a panel on their Austin positions and how tech helped them land their spots and the challenges it presents. Speakers are from The Statesman, Austin Post, Texas Tribune and Facebook so they should cut a wide swath of experience and offer some valuable insight into the local communications and publications scene. Hacks/Hackers is a group that looks to connect and educate writers and programmers to help to better integrate the two. So far this event has no food sponsers, so maybe bring a sandwich.

SXSW Film Panel Wrap-Up: The Kids Are Alright
Ex-Austinites Jay and Mark Duplass have returned home with a new film Cyrus, featuring some bigger name actors but still maintaining its basic improvised, low-fi feel. They joined a panel today called “The Kids are Alright” and focused basically on
well, on that certain kind of film, which has grown in popularity and can be seen in several other films here at SXSW. While the main focus was on the brothers Duplass and their unique approach, there was a some interesting information shared which we would love to go on and on about. In fact, if you ask us about it while waiting in line at any of their films, (all of which we aretotally pumped to see), we probably won’t shut up about it. In the meantime, here are a few choice cuts.
SXSW Film Delivers a Deluge of Awesome Panels & Short Films
You may be thinking to yourself at this point that there is not enough time in the day for all of the amazing content to be consumed at SXSW, and you would be right. From last week's announcement of the full features lineup to today's release of the panels and short films program, we are thinking we may have to break the heart of that handsome gent—which is what we're calling our pillow these days—because our dance card is already completely full. Maybe if our pillow was moderating a panel with Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), Matt Reeves (Let Me In) Eli Roth (Hostel), Quentin Tarantino (Inglorious Basterds), and Ti West (House of the Devil), we could squeeze in a short nap.
