Democratic National Committee Chairman and former presidential hopeful Howard Dean will be in Austin tomorrow night to meet with the faithful to discuss the DNC’s plan for victory. Amid growing concerns among some Democrats that the party is “confused” or becoming the party of “reaction,” Dean will try and provide some cohesion six weeks before the mid-term elections and raise some money for the DNC. Tom DeLay succeeded yesterday in having Judge Bob Perkins removed from his money-laundering and conspiracy case, complaining that the Democrat had donated over $5,000 to "liberal" causes since 2001. While a new judge has yet to be named, The Hammer's already working on his next weaselly tactic: having the trial moved out of Austin. Ridiculously, his indictment hearings have become something of a farce - it's hard to remember that the whole thing stems......

The Austinist grew up with Sesame Street. We could even say we survived on it, and there are still VHS tapes of old recorded episodes in our parents’ house. So when we heard about the proposed budget cut for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, we were more than a little appalled. Fortunately, public broadcasting won a reprieve yesterday as the House voted (284-140) to restore the $100 million cut to the $400 million budget.......
