We've just gotten our grimy hands on several additional tickets for tomorrow's awesome show at Emo's, with Evangelicals, the Lovely Feathers, and Man Man. Naturally, we're giving them away to you guys! In the meantime, listen to some Lovely Feathers tunes, take a look at our review of Evangelicals' new album, So Gone, and brace yourselves for one hell of a show. We've already told you about The Arm's CD release show on Friday, but we think it deserves another mention: they'll be playing with Single Frame, Faceless Werewolves and Lomita over at Emo's. We've also just found out that Super!Alright! has been tapped to provide visuals, which kinda makes sense considering they've already done a bunch of videos for Single Frame. The Arm's promised to bring some "special guests" onstage throughout their set, as well as......

Stuck at work and loathing your job? Episodes of The Office no longer so funny as true? Here's an opportunity to parlay your fanatical music lust and problem with The Man into something, well, practical: Misra Records, one of Austinist's favorite Austin-based indie music labels and home to such esteemed bands as Phosphorescent, England's Flotation Toy Warning, The Mendoza Line, Shearwater and Destroyer is looking for an intern! Sure, it's a free gig and......

While scores of wonderful albums from already well-established indie acts like Broken Social Scene, Of Montreal and The Decemberists were all but predestined for greatness this year, others seemed to appear from nowhere. Case in point: Sup Pop phenoms Wolf Parade, emerging from Montreal with a series of cameos in various compilation albums that left American fans in a rabid frenzy before finally dazzling us with their debut LP, Apologies to the Queen Mary;......

*Photo taken from Phosphorescent's MySpace page* Phosphorescent has always been a favorite of the Austinist, and his show at Emo’s on Saturday night solidified why we love him so. Matthew Houck is touring solo to promote Aw Come Aw Wry, his 2005 release from Austin-based Misra Records. He claims to feel a tad exposed without a band backing him up. It must be especially disconcerting when you are attempting to play over the raucous......

Below is a list of the new albums released this week. You can get most at Waterloo Records or End of an Ear. Artist Spotlight Mendoza Line - Full of Light and Full of Fire (Misra) New York City's Mendoza Line are an awfully bitter bunch. Then again, these days, we can't rightfully blame them for feeling that way. Their latest release on Austin's Misra Records, Full of Light and Full of Fire, finds......

Phosphorescent is the musical experiment of 26-year-old Matthew Houck (pronounced “How-k”) and a rotating cast of musicians from Athens, Georgia. His second full-length album, Aw Come Aw Wry, was just released by Austin’s own Misra Records. Phosphorescent is currently touring with a line-up that includes Houck's friends Nick Cervini (vocals, horns, slide whistle), Jesse Flavin (vocals, bass guitar), Brent Jones (vocals, horns, drums), and Austinite Lynn Boland (horns, keyboard). We caught up with the......

England's Flotation Toy Warning is a band of inventors, academics, and a former flying machine test pilot - most telling of their avant-garde leanings, it was while discussing exotic butterflies over dinner that the five "discovered a common interest in astrophonics and decided to become a musical item." Their debut album, "Bluffer's Guide to the Flight Deck" - released by Austin's own Misra Records - is what would have resulted had Johann Sebastian Bach......
