Whether you agree or disagree with Austin’s “Live Music Capital of the World” claim, there is little doubt that our city hosts a plethora of quality shows every week and offers boundless options to its fine citizens on a daily basis. This week, pick from a number of choices to supplement your everyday rat race activities. On Tuesday, Matt Costa holds court at The Parish with his informal tales wrapped up in pop melodies and topped with sprinkles of piano and harmonica. Costa was once an avid skateboarder but a serious injury ended that calling a few years ago, allowing him to concentrate on his musical career instead. Unfamiliar Faces was released in January of this year on Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Records. The soulful Americana flavor of The Delta Spirit precedes Costa. The act recently signed to Rounder Records, who plan to re-release Ode to Sunshine, the band's self-released album recorded at a friend’s cabin in Julian, San Diego. The Delta Spirit performed on KCRW 89.9 FM’s Morning Becomes Eclectic last month -- check it out here.

Scheduled to perform during the three-day Memorial Weekend blitz are Austinites Trail of Dead and Iron & Wine, plus a salivatory stew of sweet, sweet bands: FRIDAY, MAY 26...

Austin City Limits is pretty nifty, we'll admit. But let's face it: the lineup for Coachella, ACL's glammed-up West Coast sibling in the desiccated wastelands near Joshua Tree, has all but reigned supreme these last few years. And this year, they're at it again; earlier this week they announced the full roster for the two-day festival, to be headlined this year by Depeche Mode (huzzah!) and ... Tool (huh?). The entire lineup: Saturday, April...
