Snapshots: Local Music Is Sexy

Thanks to everyone who came out Friday night for Local Music Is Sexy. We had a wonderful time. All the bands were amazing, and we can't wait to see you again next time. Austin Kleon was on hand drawing the party from his viewpoint on the balcony, view the rest of his images here.

By now you know the lineup for this year's Fun Fest, and you're already planning your schedule. Once again, the festivities kick off on Friday night at the Mohawk and Club Deville, where Austinist hosts our annual Local Music Is Sexy party and the After the Jump Blogger's Panel along with the Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau.

We kicked off Fun Fun Fun Fest weekend with our annual Local Music Is Sexy party at the Mohawk. Thank you so much to Brothers & Sisters, Foot Patrol, the Lovely Sparrows, Leatherbag and the Eastern Sea for providing the local lineup, and to Dengue Fever for ending the night with a bang.

We're more dedicated than ever when it comes to spreading the word about our local music community: the bands that keep it running year-round, and the fans who still believe in leaving the house to take part in their scene. We're proud of this community, and we can't think of a better time to celebrate it than on the eve of Fun Fun Fun Festival.

Today, Fun Fun Fun Fest announced the afterparties that will be sprinkling the Red River music district over the weekend of November 7-9.

We're proud of this community, and we can't think of a better time to celebrate it than on the eve of Fun Fun Fun Festival. Join on us November 7 promptly at 8 p.m. for Local Music Is Sexy VI at the Mohawk Bar on Red River.

Two days after SXSW kicks off and our city becomes a living, breathing conglomeration of people from all walks of life, Austinist presents Local Music is Sexy at the PureVolume Ranch. Past Local Music is Sexy events have showcased acts such as The Black Angels, Brothers and Sisters, The Lemurs, The Corto Maltese, Black Before Red, and IV Thieves to name a few. Last year, we remember dancing the night away to Car Stereo (Wars)’ mad mash-ups, drinking free Red Bull (among other things), and having a go at the sweet Wii set up in that little lounge at the location. All in all, an excellent time.
