Harmony Korine's Mister Lonely follows the adventures of an American Michael Jackson impersonator (Diego Luna) who meets a charming Marilyn Monroe impersonator (Samantha Morton) on the streets of Paris. Together, they travel to a commune populated exclusively by celebrity impersonators--a Neverlandesque place where everyone is famous, and the spotlight never fades.

Rogue Wave released their third full-length Asleep At Heaven’s Gate last year, leaving behind the safe haven of Sub Pop to find a new home at Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Records. The album itself found the band conjuring up a textured mosaic of pop harmonies and poignant lyrics with the aid of sufficient guitars and keys. “Own Your Own Home” and “Like I Needed” were two of our favorite sleeper tracks of the past year, while single “Lake Michigan” was a lush pop hit never to be heard on everyday FM radio. Connie Britton, of Friday Night Lights fame, appeared earlier this week on the Late Show with David Letterman. Dave brought up filming in Austin and she discussed Keeping Austin Weird. They also had a lengthy conversation about Leslie, whom she couldn't recall by name, as well as her interactions with our actual mayor....

We know you've heard the name, and we know you know they're not Japanese. Or police. They're actually just some kids from Canada who met in fourth grade and are living the dream: playing in an awesome, fun, and increasingly popular band. Elementary friends David Monks (vocals, bass), Graham Wright (keyboard), and Josh Hook (guitar) met Greg Alsop (drummer) in high school and formed Tokyo Police Club. Shortly thereafter, and totally out of the...

Last night, after spending part of last week at SxSW promoting his new movie, Adam Sandler was asked to take the reins of The Late Show when Letterman came down with the stomach flu. He seemed pretty comfortable in the monologue, but admittedly awkward in the interview with co-star Don Cheadle (Sandler confessed that he'd never interviewed anyone before). Cheadle and Sandler chatted about Reign Over Me, Sandler's dog Matzoball, and eating BBQ at Stubbs....

ME Television and the Austin Music Foundation have been doing their fair share in our city to promote local talent and improve artist networks. The former has brought in the likes of Pink Nasty and Sparrow House for their weekly Almost Late Show, while the latter has recently initiated a twice-a-month mixer at the Belmont. Tonight, they combine to bring us the Emerging Artists Series. A $5 cover (with partial proceeds going to AMF)...

Last month, NPR's Ken Tucker pitted two albums side-by-side for comparison: one was Coldplay's third album X & Y; the other was Electrified, by the Denver indie-pop band Dressy Bessy. After challenging the earnestness of Chris Martin's sappy vocals, Tucker goes on to glow about Tammy Ealom - Dressy Bessy's lead singer - praising her tone for being "every bit as knowledgable about the vagaries of love and lost and so much more varied...

It seems Austin has been getting a lot of attention from late night TV shows recently. Adding to this PR buzz was Robert Rodriguez who appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson promoting his latest, Sin City. Robert talked mostly about bringing in Frank Miler to co-direct the film, his family, and his DIY work ethic. But he did squeeze in a couple of nice things about our little city. When the sometimes painful to watch Craig Ferguson asked if Austin was “hip and cool”, he responded by saying “it’s eclectic”. Austin…eclectic…Who knew?
