Snapshots: Jónsi @ Austin Music Hall
Touring for the better part of 2010, Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi Birgisson is currently bringing his mystical, jaw-dropping live shows to cities across the States. The tour's latest stop brought Jónsi (with openers Mountain Man) in front of a packed audience here at Austin Music Hall last night. Our photog Pooneh Ghana was there to capture all the action.
Jónsi Brings Magic to Austin Music Hall [Preview]
Jónsi Birgisson’s unique and imaginative approach to composing complex orchestrations is revealing of a true musical visionary. Much like his work as the Sigur Rós frontman, the eclectic Icelandic talent uses a delicate blend of musical elements to build a mystical atmosphere. Such dedication promises for a very special production tonight at the Austin Music Hall.
Jonsi at Austin Music Hall: Win 'Em Before You Can Buy 'Em
We are super excited that Jonsi is coming to Austin Music Hall October 26. Jonsi is best known as the vocalist and guitarist from Icelandic group Sigur Ros, but lately his solo career has been triumphant and quietly trumping his previous work. This is his second and final US tour for his album, Go, so unless you want to drive all the way to Iceland, grab tickets soon.
New Release Tuesday: Harlem, Jónsi
Though Jónsi is best known for his work with the dramatic and heart-stopping tunes he wrote with Iceland's Sigur Ros, his solo work shines with equal brightness. Comprised primarily of tunes that he's written but that haven't quite fit into the Sigur Ros landscape, Go finds Jónsi ecstatic, pop-smitten and larger than life. It also features the artist singing primarily in English, a first for the Icelandic lad.
