The Congress Avenue institution is seeking a patch o' turf in front of an apartment/condo building in Austin on which to build a food-producing, artist-designed garden, otherwise known as an "Edible Estate." What do you have to lose by nominating your yard... more ›

“Then wolves will live in peace with lambs. And leopards will lie down to rest with goats. Calves, lions and young bulls will eat together. And Reverends will profess their love for leather culture.” The above spin on a few verses from the Book of Isaiah pretty much sums up the Austin Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival’s stellar opening festivities. As expected, there was a strong sense of community that only increased throughout the... more ›

Picking and choosing from nearly 900 submissions, she landed on 96 works generated by 45 artists, 15 of whom are from the great state of Texas. You might recognize locals Roberto Bellini, William Hundley, Rebecca Rothfus, Joseph Phillips... more ›

Because That Fight Club Poster is So 1999

Because That Fight Club Poster is So 1999

We hate to say it, but we're not normally the type to invest in artwork. Sure, we support the arts. We can talk the talk. We can throw around words like "modernist" and "Suprematist." But, when push comes to shove, sinking several hundred dollars into a painting that may or may not be worth the wall space it occupies in a few years isn't the kind of gamble we like to take.
