Victor Villarreal has had a long and storied career. As the guitarist for the hugely influential Cap'n Jazz, he developed a distinctive style that carried over to his work with Cap'n Jazz projects Owls, Ghosts & Vodka, and Joan of Arc. As a solo artist, he has explored many different variations on guitar music and has continued to uphold his reputation as one of indie's most influential and important six stringers. However, it was only last week that Villarreal released his first album's worth of solo material, Invisible Cinema. One can only assume that his set will consist heavily of songs from the album. Joining Villarreal are The Eastern Sea, Meryll, and My Empty Phantom.

Interview: Tim Kinsella of Joan of Arc
When Cap’n Jazz plays Fun Fun Fun Fest today on the Orange Stage at 6pm, that will be it. What came together last summer as a one-off reunion show spawned a tour and a slew of media coverage, and it all ends here in Austin. For most of the band members, that means eventually turning back to other bands, other jobs and other lives. Frontman Tim Kinsella, however, will immediately shift gears when he and Cap’n Jazz guitarist Victor Villareal gear up later that night and head to the Mohawk to play as Joan of Arc, the band Kinsella has fronted for over a dozen years. Joan of Arc was preparing for a Halloween show in Lawrence, Kansas when we talked to Kinsella, where he was ready to take the stage dressed as none other than Joan of Arc. He took a few minutes beforehand to talk about life outside of the Cap’n Jazz reunion.

Le Diamant Brut: Joan of Arc & Crawling With Kings
It’s unclear from the group’s MySpace whether or not they're still playing around town or even in existence, but a few songs recently came across the Le Diamant desk which warranted a little attention. They’re an indie rock, alt. pop group making their home in the 512.
