Last year James Murphy broke a lot of hipster hearts when he announced that LCD Soundsystem would be playing its last show. For those of us not lucky enough to attend that final performance at Madison Square Garden in April 2011, Shut Up And Play The Hits serves as the next best thing to having been there.

LCD Soundsystem + Holy Ghost = Awesome = Tonight = Giveaway
MGMT is barely retreating out to sea only to have Stubb's taken over yet again (and, *scalper alert*, sold out yet again), this time by one of the few bands touring this year who'd maybe possibly perhaps rate higher on the "cool scale," LCD Soundsystem. The New York mavens, led by the always compelling James Murphy, are touring in support of their excellent new album, This Is Happening, which features songs reminiscent of what's worked for them in the past (see "Pow Pow" and the trance-inducingly awesome "Dance Yrself Clean"), as well as a nod towards the ironic singalong with first single "Drunk Girls." And we can tell you this for sure---we'll be there, no matter how long that damn line is. If you're realllllll lucky you'll win a free pair of tickets to go with your name in the entry box, located just after that jump.....
LCD Soundsystem at Stubb's June 8
James Murphy, aka LCD Soundsystem, keeps himself pretty busy. When he's not recording his own music or remixing others, he's running the highly successful DFA record label. It's been a awhile since we had a new full length from LCD Soundsystem to get excited about, so when Murphy announced that This Is Happening would be coming out on May 18, the news was indeed buzzworthy.
ACL Fest Day One Wrap-Up: Part One
Upon arriving around 2:50pm, we found quite a bit of chaos. An unfortunate propane tank explosion had injured four ACL staffers, so fire trucks, EMS vehicles, and golf carts were buzzing everywhere. Our tickets were stuck with a friend inside, so we found a shady tree and hung out until the dust settled around 3:15. We entered to the wafting notes of Peter, Bjorn, and John, who had attracted such a huge crowd we...
Weekend Parties: Erotic City, Rock the Casbah, AMODA, Stitch, Car Stereo Wars
· The Lord Imperial and The Young Adorable - aka DJ Starsign and John Angle - kick off the first ever Erotic City party at Nasty's on Saturday night. Dressed in silly disguises (Panda vs. Biker, and more), the diabolical deck dilettantes are spinning a night of electro-house, rock, new wave, funky disco, and hip hop, a la James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), Larry Levan, Daft Punk, Metro Area, Can, P-Funk and - that's right -...
Tonight: LCD Soundsystem at Stubb's
By day, James Murphy is one-half of powerhouse indie label DFA Records, which has of late produced remix albums featuring the likes of Joy Division, The Rapture, Junior Senior, Gorillaz and N.E.R.D. But at night he's better known as LCD Soundsystem, purveyor of some of the hottest dance-punk disco remixes we've heard in quite some time. When his eagerly awaited album finally shipped this February, critics hailed it as "exceptional", saying that Murphy "pushes...
