Some not-so-fun facts: Texas has the highest state prison population rate in the country. Nearly a quarter of people released from prison will return. Instead of locking people up and throwing away the key, some folks have the radical idea that we help the prisoners rehabilitate themselves and break the cycle of recidivism. Help Send Books to Prisoners Thirsting for Knowledge
Austin’s Inside Book Project works year-round to send literature to Texas prison inmates who request books. This weekend they will be holding one of their marathon volunteer drives/parties to package materials and catch-up on 2,000 back requests.
