Clay Pit, the Indian food Valhalla on Guadalupe and 16th Street, has recently updated their menu, and all vegan items are now marked with a handy little "v" symbol, in addition to their substantial vegetarian offerings. While perhaps not the most authentic, their Indian dishes have nevertheless neatly filled a curry-shaped void in Austinites’ stomachs since 1998, and was called “one of the best Indian restaurants in the United States” by Bon Appetit magazine. more ›

Do not, repeat, do not go to Swad expecting saag paneer or chicken tikka masala, lest you turn into one of those people who posts irrationally angry reviews on Yelp. Swad's serves southern Indian/Pakistani food, which is totally different, lighter (to a point), and completely vegetarian.
