On Friday, December 9 the W Austin is hosting a one-year anniversary event not to miss. From 3-6:30pm, patrons can partake in $1.29 congratulatory cocktails as the W Austin toasts to a year of success.
Drinks: The W Austin Turns One, Hosts $1.29 Happy Hour Today
Food + Drink: The Happiest of Hours Downtown
There's nothing better after a long day at the office than hitting up a favorite restaurant for a happy hour deal. Luckily Austin has two more great after work options now that Haddington's and The Backspace have commenced with some new (and pretty epic) happy hours.
Wine Down Wednesdays Returns Tomorrow
Wine Down Wednesdays, the once-weekly event on ACL Live's front porch, is back beginning tomorrow. Clos du Bois is sponsoring the event through the rest of August (at least that's all that's official so far), providing live music, and food samplings for free between 5-7 p.m, with wine at very reasonable happy hour prices. This Wednesday, you can enjoy music from The Trishas with food provided by Imperia, next week it's Dan Dyer and Cantine Laredo. The last Wednesday in August ends the month nicely with Tje Austin and food by Milaga Tapas and Bar. There's no break in the heat in sight, but hanging out under the ACL Live awning with a refreshing glass of wine does sound pretty appealing, doesn't it? Get all the details here.
Austin Tech Happy Hour at the W
If your phone hasn’t already reminded you, tonight the W will play host to the April edition of Austin Tech Happy Hour. Starting at 6 p.m., tech-minded people from around the capitol area will be wearing nametags(as they often do), having a drink(as they often do), and meeting some of the people they have friended, added, and maybe squeezed into a hashtag.
Food + Drink: New Pit Stops At Bar Lamar + The W's SIP
We’re only just over SXSW, so you probably need to take a break and get your strength up. But if you’re seeking civilized recovery surroundings, there are a couple of newish options you might not yet have discovered:
Free SXSW Happy Hour Courtesy Austinist, Public School and Home Slice Pizza
So here's the deal: On Tuesday, March 15 between 5 and 8 p.m., everyone is welcome at Rabbit's Lounge (E 6th St & Chicon) for a happy hour meet and greet on us. Free beer while it lasts, and free pizza provided by our good friends at Home Slice Pizza. You read that right, free beer and pizza at Austin's most authentic east side dive bar (run by some of the most amazing people ever).
Drink Of The Week: Malverde's El Cubico
Malverde, the sleek bar just upstairs from La Condesa, is currently addressing the plight of money-challenged Austin drinkers. Beer, wine, sangria and signature cocktails are 1/2 off from 5-7pm, Thursday-Saturday. Many of the drinks are top-flight.
(Another) Happy Hour of the Week: Half Price on the Paggi House Patio
We hope you are reading this on your phone or laptop somewhere outdoors, because this weather is not to be missed. Since we can't all just quit our jobs and spend every waking minute on a patio somewhere with a cold beverage in hand, we have to settle for the next best thing: happy hour at Paggi House.
Happy Hour Of The Week: Parkside on East 6th St
Where: Parkside, 301 E. Sixth St., 474-9898
When: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., daily
Why We Love It: Inventive cocktails plus a swank beer selection and a generous bar menu—all for half-price—equal a great happy hour at one of Austin's finest restaurants.
KUT's New Music Happy Hour with Leatherbag and The Eastern Sea
Starting tonight, KUT is partnering up with La Zona Rosa for a weekly happy hour showcase of local music, fittingly titled KUT's New Music Happy Hour. They could hardly have picked a stronger debut lineup - Leatherbag and The Eastern Sea are two of our favorites here at the Austinist.
Reminder: St. Vincent/Camera Obscura Listening Party and Happy Hour at The Mohawk
Starting at 5 pm, we'll begin playing tunes and enjoying drink specials, like $1 Pabsts until they run out. Also, we'll be giving away tickets to the upcoming St. Vincent and Camera Obscura shows coming to Austin. To summarize: that's three hours of drinks and good tunes. Beats sitting in I-35 traffic for sure.

Austinist Show Giveaway: Jukebox the Ghost @ The Mohawk
Shout Out Louds, Shearwater, Liam Finn, and A Place To Bury Strangers may have been some of the highlights of our day show at SXSW this year but one of the surprise packages came in the form of Jukebox the Ghost’s piano pop potions that had many in the audience at the Mohawk enquiring about the band. So what’s the 4-1-1? Comprised of Jesse Kristin, Tommy Siegel, and Ben Thornewill, the act formed in 2003 as The Sunday Mail but by 2006, they adjusted to their current moniker (probably in anticipation of erroneous Google search results!) In April of this year, the trio released their debut Let Live and Let Ghosts. (Get the scoop behind their name and more -- Gothamist’s recent interview with the band.)
Cine Las Americas fundraiser: CHICHA 56
If you love booze and cinema, well, have we got a deal for you. Cine Las Americas, Austin's own multicultural, non-profit media arts center, will be holding Chicha 56, a combo happy hour and after party fundraiser to benefit this year's programming. The event comes a mere 56 days before the Cine Las Americas International Film Festival kicks off.
Rallies and More in Austin This Week
Even those still rooting for under-underdog Ron Paul have something to look forward to: the ten-term Congressman is coming to UT Austin this Saturday for a massive rally at the Main Mall. "Although he is behind in delegate numbers and poll support, Ron Paul says he intends to continue the race as long as his supporters finance him," wrote Chris Robertson, Event Coordinator for this weekend's event.
