The marathon that has been renamed more times than Austin has been called the “Live Music Capital of the World” will kick off with a 7AM start time. Founded in 1992, the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon (this year called the AT&T Marathon) is expected to draw 11,000 runners, 30,000 spectators and is the 15th largest marathon in the U.S. One of the more well-known runners (no, it isn't Lance) will be our own mayor......

Former Austin Mayor Bruce Todd is an active proponet for road cyclist safety as he recovers from his November accident. There aren't that many good reasons to wake up at 5:00 am on an icy Sunday morning, but runners and volunteers all braved the frigid weather on Sunday morning for the Freescale Marathon and Half Marathon. Tiger Poop could very well be the next pest repellant. It might even work on your little brother.......

Every runner worth his or her Gatorade knows that a marathon is 26.2 miles and a half marathon is, well, half of that, or 13.1 miles, right? Well, guess again. Apparently there was an error in the route used for the 3M Half Marathon held last Sunday that caused it to be one-tenth of a mile short of the true half marathon distance. To a non-runner, this may seem insignificant, but for all those......

It's like a dream come true. The Black Star Pub could be the first community owned bar in Texas. We know you were psyched about walking to work this morning, but the strike was called off. Capital Metro employees may just have an acceptable new contract by noon today. A ton of people in our office have been out sick lately. Now we're hoping afraid that they'll never come back. The Umlauf Sculpture Garden......

(image borrowed from 3M 2005 photo gallery) We like to think of ourselves as a healthy bunch. We've been anticipating The 3M Half Marathon (and relay) for a couple months now. Training diligently. Eating right. Sleeping right. Cutting back on the beer consumption. ( Well, maybe not as much as we should have...but we read somewhere that beer actually replaces certain phytochemicals lost while running-so we considered them as part of our training regimen.)......
