Indieroke's Two Year Anniversary Tonight!

Now, on the occasion of its Second Birthday, we have seen Indieroke grow and flourish into the bull-in-a-china-shop toddler that we always knew it could be. In its very short, yet surprisingly full life, it has seen local garage rockers standing on piano tops, crashing chandeliers, yacht rock captains' hats, stage diving, many, many painful Don't Stop Believin' renditions and more GTs than can be listed in this limited space. If you've never been, we highly recommend you step out tonight. If you haven't missed a single one, then the warm bosom of Indieroke is surely anticipating your return, welcoming you back to the cave of rawk. more ›

Among various and sundry positions held, Ivins served as co-editor of the... more ›

The Keatons and the Seavers were on vacation (hey--does anyone remember how Mike Seaver's best friend had the nickname Boner?) and unless you liked reruns of Good Times (which I did, actually) or watching... more ›

ACL Review: Ray Davies

ACL Review: Ray Davies

Were we the only ones caught off guard by the second coming of the British Invasion (Three if by air!)? Regardless, we were very excited to attend Monday's taping of Ray Davies for the PBS Austin City Limits program that airs locally on KLRU (schedule). Terry Lickona's excellent and enthusiastic introduction even named Ray Davies in his personal top 5 "pulls" for the show. The introductory performance of I'm Not Like Everybody Else found... more ›

It's a mad, mad world out there, folks. If you don't believe us, just check it out for yourselves... LAist tracks an award-winning TV writer who worked on Good Times to a homeless shelter and sees a Little Old Lady get a jaywalking ticket because she can't get across fast enough (in the same post!). Poets invade Metro and an LAist contributor's new book asks WWJB. Gothamist gets down with the immigration rally and... more ›
