Tablet computers -- touchscreen devices that are larger than a phone but smaller than a laptop -- are the hot tech topic of 2010. Speculation is rampant that Apple will debut a tablet later this year, but Freescale isn't waiting around. They've debuted a design today that they believe can sell for around $200.

- The effects of job cuts announced last year at Freescale are starting to be felt locally. Documents filed with the Texas Workforce Commission indicate that the company plans to lay off 138 people at their Travis and Williamson county facilities in January 2009.
