This Father’s Day, bring the entire family to The Mohawk for a special Austin Music Foundation event, appropriately entitled Dad Rocks. Doors open at 5 p.m. and all children under the age of twelve get in free. As for the slightly older folks, tickets can be purchased via Front Gate for $20. Before you make a fuss about the cost, check out all these complimentary goodies included in your ticket price -- scrumptious snacks from Frank, yummy tidbits from Tiff’s Treats, those delicious beverages we first tried at Pachanga from Waialua Soda Works, and irresistible popsicles (like Pineapple Basil or Tamarind) from GoodPops. You’ll also get to enjoy blistering rock ‘n’ roll from English Teeth and magical mash-ups by DJ Car Stereo (Wars) as a part of the package.

Preview: The Blakes, The Ripe, and English Teeth [Tonight at The Mohawk]
The Blakes, who don’t have a schtick to wax clever about. They’re just straight-up gritty Seattle garage rock. They sing tweaked rock songs about misbehaving that sound like they were recorded in a toolshed. If we’ve gotten to the point where that sound comes off as retro, it’s more a quirk of our times than the Blakes’. After all, there aren’t many places better for making music than a garage.
Music News & Notes: KISS, KUT, WOXY & More
WOXY will celebrate their move to Austin Sept. 6 at Scoot Inn. Black Before Red, TV Torso, English Teeth and Martin Crane will perform.
