All roads seem to lead to Psychic TV—at least all of the musical ones here in Austin. If there was any band that has an influence on the art rock scene here in the ATX it is no doubt PTV. While the musical similarities might not necessarily be apparent, the ideas and ethos of PTV can be heard from the exploratory programming of Church of the Friendly Ghost to the fuck you punk of Beerland. Their footprint is subtle, but ubiquitous.

ATX Antics At Elysium
If you're looking for a good way to support local arts and business this weekend, Secret Oktober's ATX Antics at Elysium should provide you with the perfect opportunity. Billed as a "A Local Music and Arts Festival," this one night event features a long list of local talent. However, perhaps the biggest name on the music side of things comes in the form of Jurgen Engler, front man for German industrial mainstays Die Krupps. He will be performing various Dir Krupps songs with the help of several Austin musicians, including Bradley Bills of CHANT, Alex Virlios of CTRL, and Steven Canham of Lucid Dementia.
Black Tape For a Blue Girl at Elysium's Halloween Ball
Long the local hangout for the Goth crowd, Elysium always throws a party on All Hallow’s Eve, especially since it coincides with the club’s anniversary. This year’s 9th birthday/Halloween ball features not only a steampunk theme (and a costume contest to go with it), but also the first Austin gig by American darkwave/Gothic music legend Black Tape For a Blue Girl in over a decade.
Get Gender Bent: Kings N Things at Elysium Tonight
Austin’s longest running drag king troupe, Kings N Things, will be returning to Elysium tonight to celebrate their seventh year of professional gender bending. The troupe has taken their female-to-male drag show on the road to events across the country, performing alongside top drag performers while selling out local shows at the Off Center and the Blue Theater.
