As we told you yesterday, an historic event is taking place today on the internets: the first ever feature film debut on Hulu.com. Adding a double scoop of awesomeness to the occasion is the fact that said feature film happens to have local roots: CRAWFORD is a documentary about the tappity-tap-tap dancing of folksy political stagecraft and a small town population embroiled in a tensile political climate, directed by David Modigliani.

The movie fell under the radar to some degree during its initial theatrical run, partially because it was/is so long. But it has intense performances from Washington and Crowe, bit players as diverse as the RZA and Chiwetel Ejiofor (who was the bougie producer in Talk to Me), and a seventies style and depth to it that shouldn't be missed.--Rebecca Onion
As you may well know, Rad is the most awfully awesome BMX movie this side of BMX Bandits. Starring Bill Allen, Lori Loughlin (better known as "Aunt Becky" on Full House) and Bart Conner (a gold medal-winning Olympic gymnast and husband of Nadia Comaneci), Rad follows the adventures of BMX riding paperboy Cru Jones as ditches his SATs to qualify for Helltrack, a big-time bike race with serious professional competition.

They drink Brains, they support Cardiff City FC, and they don’t give a fuck. Best of all, the Super Furry Animals churn out off-kilter psychedelic pop at a prolific rate. Despite having put out eight stellar full-lengths in fifteen years (a couple of those accompanied by simultaneous DVD releases as well), the act is still somewhat under-appreciated, especially outside their home island. Their talent is boundless, their music all over the place yet melodious, and their shows are often enhanced with video medleys as the backdrop, including the clips of that adorable Golden Retriever that accompany, well, "Golden Retriever."

- Guess what! We're pulling out of Iraq today! Not.
- Kenyan politician, voice for peace is shot to death in his driveway.
- New York State archivist sells important documents from American history on Ebay. Those archivists - you just can't trust 'em.
Even after the sketch comedy gem The State was grounded prematurely (and where’s that DVD already?) it hasn’t stopped Michael Showalter or Ian Black from bounding into many more comedic projects in the ensuing years.

After the films, he will answer questions. ("How did you get that way?" is probably off limits as a question.)

The Beauty Bar hosts the fascinating Gil Mantera’s Party Dream this Saturday. Hailing from Ohio originally, the duo consists of Gil Mantera and Ultimate Donny, two brothers who combine thumping dance beats and traditional rock music to create an electric smorgasbord of synth-pop that will keep you on the dance floor all night long. The hodgepodge of beats and sounds is as exhilarating as it is intriguing; always entertaining, sometimes cheesy. The duo’s live show seems to be quite a spectacle and a DVD (Live Video Archive [Vol. 01]) showcasing all the glory is also available. Gil Mantera’s Party Dream self-released two records before 2005’s bloodsongs on Audio Eagle Records.
