There are many great art events taking place around town this weekend. Here is a rundown of the highlights: Yard Dog Art will be hosting an opening reception for their latest exhibit from 7-9pm on Friday. Over and Under is a group show curated by Jenny Hart from Sublime Stitching. Austin's embroidery queen first exhibited her work at Yard Dog and has now selected work from a list of stitching all-stars. Over and Under showcases the wide range of styles and techniques that stem from the simple stitch - from Emily Eibel's quilt squares that depict modern folk scenes to the delicate hoop-framed work of Veronica Fuentes. The truly inspired can pick up a Sublime Stitching kit and do the over and under all night long.

That's right, the Hamburger Bed is for sale on eBay. Inspired by the 1986 movie, Hamburger: The Motion Picture, in which dorm room beds were hamburgers, Austinite Kayla Kromer cooked one up for herself. More accurately a Cheeseburger Bed, the handcrafted original quickly became an internet sensation and has appeared in seven magazines. After months of warding off would be buyers, Kromer sites a series of personal setbacks requiring her to make sacrifices as the reason she is finally willing to sell her masterpiece. Since the burger is large (8 feet in diameter!), Kromer is nor arranging for shipping, which puts Austin area residents at a great advantage should they want to sleep between a slice of memory foam American Cheese and a sesame seed bun.

But whatever, it'll just bring you and your dear ol' dad closer together as you can say, relatively, "You are such a great dad, Dad!"

Moretempo is going on tomorrow night. We’ve been fans of the DJs behind this party for quite some time, and we really respect what it is that they are trying to do by bringing out the more odd & interesting dance selections from their crates. An expansion of music awareness for you to drink and dance to. If Austin has a DJ culture, this should be its mantra.
