The movie fell under the radar to some degree during its initial theatrical run, partially because it was/is so long. But it has intense performances from Washington and Crowe, bit players as diverse as the RZA and Chiwetel Ejiofor (who was the bougie producer in Talk to Me), and a seventies style and depth to it that shouldn't be missed.--Rebecca Onion

Lawrence Wright Wins the Pulitzer
It was announced today that Austin-based scribe Lawrence Wright was awarded the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for general non-fiction. This is not the only award his book, The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11, has won, but it is one of the more illustrious honors it has received. You can either choose a movie starring Oscar winners/nominees (which of course doesn't guarantee anything), or you can go with movies that cater to the lowest common denominator.
