As the Alamo's Lars states, Dario Argento's work often "doesn't make much sense," but there is a reason he is considered a horror master and you'll find it in the creepy, stylized shots that result in an atmosphere drenched in suspense molasses. There's an achingly slow, tense unraveling in his work, aided beautifully by color and score. Argento's directorial debut, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, is actually an Italian thriller (giallo, a niche genre unto itself) and it screens in glorious 35mm as part of Terror Tuesday tomorrow night at the Alamo Ritz. more ›
