KGSR 107.1 invites Austinites to jump in this week and explore Austin's culinary scene while benefiting a great cause. Through Sunday, participating restaurants will showcase some of their favorite menu items to the tune of three courses for $25 (plus drinks, tax, and tip ... don't forget to tip for Heaven's sake, people gotta make a living!), with $5 going to the Kids Café, which are safe places kids can go after school and get a hot dinner and some help with their homework.

Some Austin restaurants are doing their part to help folks in Sudan and Chad. To help raise funds for the American Jewish World Service's work for the people of Darfur, local restaurants are donating a percentage of their proceeds from today's sales. Lucky for our sweet tooth, May 1st-7th gives us a week of eating dessert first. Yes, readers, it is Eat Dessert First Week. We don't know who thought this deliciousness up, but we want to cover them in whipped cream kisses. Of course, we are a little late getting started, so let's get busy. We are convinced that eating more pie and cake will solve the world's problems!
