This past Saturday, from just 2pm to 5pm, East Texas six-year-old Drew Cox hoped to raise a little money for his dad Randy Cox, who was diagnosed with seminoma cancer in February. All told - and thanks to one donation of 5,000 - entrepreneur Drew raised 10,000 dollars.

Bastrop Mom to Shave Her Head to Raise Cancer Research Funds
Bastrop mom Janet Pollok will be one of 46 women, known as "the 46 Mommas", who will have their heads shaved on September 21. Pollok and the other women are all having their heads shaved to raise money for research on childhood cancers through the St. Baldrick's Foundation.

Christie Constante was diagnosed with cervical cancer stage IIB in January of 2008. After going through the rigors of chemotherapy, radiation, and internal radiation therapy, the cancer has not subsided, and now her diagnosis is seen as terminal. As if insult needed to be applied to injury, Christie is struggling with Medicaid to cover all bills, So her friends with Latinas Unidas Por El Arte (LUPE Arte), and Klown Dog Bikes are throwing a benefit featuring Kitty Kitty Bang Bang, Brownout, Ruby Rico, Woodgrain, DJ Chorizo Funk, and RAD, in Christie’s name to help ease the financial burden.
