The Community Action Network, a "collaboration of organizations and individuals in Central Texas who are working together to build a community of equity and opportunity" released a report on the 12th that - as you can see from the above graph - shows that the number of low income Austinites has exceeded the State's percentage, the first time this has happened since 2005. Low-income means earning "less than 200% of the federal poverty level," which the Statesman explains is "$44,000 a year for a family of four."

New Release Tuesday: Frightened Rabbit
Glasgow's Frightened Rabbit are a a three-piece outfitted by siblings Scott and Grant Hutchinson (guitar/vocals and drums, respectively), and like a handful of rock outfits past, lack a bassist. Their 2006 release, Sings the Greys, was well-received critically, but lacked the distribution to properly permeate initially. Luckily, Fat Cat stepped in and helped the band re-record and re-master Greys, setting them on their way to record Midnight Organ.
