Food: Austin Food + Wine Festival Announced; Morimoto, Zimmern, Waxman + More To Appear

This afternoon at Uchiko, C3 and Food & Wine announced the schedule for the inaugural edition of the Austin Food & Wine Festival, which will be held from April 27-29. The festival replaces the much-loved but often financially challenged Texas Hill Country Wine & Food Festival. C3 engaged chefs and restauranteurs Tyson Cole (Uchi), Tim Love (Lovesome Dove, Ft. Worth), and Jesse Herman (La Condesa) as partners in the festival, and each of those restaurants is featured prominently on the event schedule. more ›

Venue Change: Adele Coming to the Theatre at Frank Erwin Center

Venue Change: Adele Coming to the Theatre at Frank Erwin Center

She was going to go to Stubb's, but given her popularity in Austin it seems that C3 has decided she needs some more room. Adele will perform at the Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on October 19. From C3: "All non-refunded tickets for the Stubb’s show must be exchanged between July 8-15. Ticketholders for the Stubb’s show will be given priority to exchange their original tickets for premium tickets at The Frank Erwin Center between July 8 and July 15. Ticketholders will be contacted by Texas Box office at The Frank Erwin Center or Adele.tv (via sandbag) with detailed instructions on how to conduct their exchanges. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you at the show." More tickets will go on sale July 22 at 10 a.m. via Texas Box Office, Texas Box Office Outlets including select H-E-B stores or by phone at 512.477.6060. more ›

ACL Fest Adds Two More Acts

The Austin City Limits festival has confirmed their second Sunday headliner: Manu Chao. Chao will perform in his La Ventura trio format, which is a more acoustic-based show than some of his past Austin and ACL appearances. Chao fills the void in the top tier of the schedule for early Sunday evening; the French artist who sings in roughly a half dozen language is a stadium rock act in many parts of the world, so he'll likely have no trouble entertaining Zilker Park opposite the more mellow sounds of Fleet Foxes across the park. Friday's schedule also had a late addition in Philadelphia's Kurt Vile, an indie rock artist who has received raves in Pitchfork and The Onion for his latest Matador release Smoke Ring For My Halo. Sunday passes are still available at aclfestival.com; Friday tickets are now sold out. more ›

Food & Wine Magazine And C3 Announce Austin Food And Wine Festival

Austin's pants just got a little bit fancier. Food & Wine magazine has adopted Austin as the next destination in its series of internationally renowned food and wine festivals, which means we'll join the likes of the Aspen Annual Food & Wine Classic and The New York City Wine & Food Festival. C3, producers of the Austin City Limits Festival and Lollapalooza, are joining with award-winning chefs Tyson Cole (Uchi) and Tim Love (The Lonesome Dove Western Bistro), as well as restaurateur Jesse Herman (La Condesa), to put on the Austin Wine & Food Festival, which will take the place of the 26-year-strong Texas Hill Country Wine & Food Festival. more ›

Austin Proud: An Interview with Black Joe Lewis on Bus Stop Hijinks, Alternate Realities, and the Split with C3

Austin Proud: An Interview with Black Joe Lewis on Bus Stop Hijinks, Alternate Realities, and the Split with C3

Few local names are so known by Austin residents as that of Black Joe Lewis—hell, there's a decent chance he has more name recognition than the mayor—and he and the band that backs him, The Honeybears, are in the process of even further building their reputation both here and beyond with their latest album, the thoroughly enjoyable Scandalous. The album, on the respected Lost Highway label and produced once again by Spoon's Jim Eno, finds the group expanding their energetic old-time-meets-new-time sound, and to support it they'll be hitting locations all over the United States and Canada. The soul-rock outfit was on their way east to Atlanta when we called Joe up to talk about his SXSW experience, local pride, and the band's break with Austin-based management company C3. more ›

New Venue Alert: The Independent [In 501 Studios, Little Joy & Clues Coming in June]

New Venue Alert: The Independent [In 501 Studios, Little Joy & Clues Coming in June]

The Independent sits on the corner of I-35 and E. 5th Street, just blocks from downtown destinations like Emo's, Red 7 and Beauty Bar. It's also a short walk to emerging east side hot spots like Shangri-La and Rio Rita. Its unassuming (and a bit office-like) presence has, until recently, been rolled into the Pilate and Latte vibe produced by its neighbors -- lawyers, designers and Progress Coffee regulars -- but that's all about to change. more ›
